Frequently Asked Questions

What services are included in a DP3 military move?

Under the DP3 Tender of Service, approved Transportation Service Providers (TSPs) handle every step of your move — from the Pre-move survey and professional packing to transport, delivery, unpacking, and debris removal. If needed, Storage in Transit (SIT) at DoD-approved facilities is also included. All services follow strict DoD guidelines to ensure your household goods are properly protected and handled

How are my household goods protected against loss or damage?

The TSP is responsible for preventing any loss or damage and is fully liable under the DP3 Claims and Liability Business Rules. If any loss or damage occurs, a joint inspection will be conducted, and a Notification of Loss or Damage form completed. Claims are processed promptly, with updates provided every 30 days until resolution.

What items cannot be shipped under DP3?

You cannot ship items that could contaminate or damage other property (such as flammable liquids), items that cannot be removed without damage, or lithium batteries exceeding regulatory watt-hour limits. Items with lithium-ion batteries must meet all required packaging and labeling standards.

What should I expect on packing and delivery days?

Our trained crews will professionally pack your household goods according to DP3 standards, using approved materials to protect all items. On delivery day, we will unload, place furniture as directed, reassemble disassembled items, and unpack all boxes upon request. Packing materials and debris will be removed the same day. A final walkthrough will document the condition of your home and any possible damage.

What can I do to prepare for my household goods move?

Start early by confirming your orders and scheduling your move with your local transportation office. On packing day, please make sure to set aside any personal items you will transport yourself — especially important documents such as passports, ID cards, medical records, or anything you may need during travel. This ensures they will not be packed by mistake. Our crew will complete the full inventory and carefully prepare your household goods for transport. We will guide you through the entire process.

What should I do during the pre-move survey?

Please plan to be present (or have an authorized representative) during the pre-move survey. Walk through your entire home with our surveyor — including all rooms, attic, garage, basement, and any storage areas — to confirm which items will be moved. Clearly point out anything that will not be moved. Let us know if there are any special items (such as large furniture, fragile items, sports equipment, or sensitive electronics), and alert us to access issues (stairs, narrow hallways, parking restrictions). The survey helps ensure your move is planned accurately and runs smoothly.
